aletheia
A Greek word formed from the prefix α- meaning not, and lethei λήθη meaning forgetfulness, oblivion, concealment.
The literal meaning of ἀλήθεια may be not forgotten, not oblivious, or not concealed. Truth should not be forgotten. Truth should be revealed not concealed. Truth, factuality and reality or more broadly, the state of not being hidden; the state of being evident." It also means factuality or reality.
In the New Testament the Greek word ἀλήθεια is translated truth.
Translated veritas in Latin.
Truth is therefore a kind of remembering something forgotten, or a recollecting of what is essentially real. Etymologically, the word aletheia suggests that truth is also unforgettable (i.e., not lethei), that is, it has its own inherent and irresistible 'witness' to reality.[1]
